The drawing is good - and thank you for posting it -, but given Sharp's personality, we need a completely different concept.
Besides being a porcupine, since you've read the story, think about what Sharp represents.
There was a guy named AP that posted a sketch for Sharp about a month ago. That sketch is a good approximation of what Sharp is. Unfortunately, AP has left us and the concept was never finished. Maybe you can get some inspiration from that sketch?
Sharp is the porcupine on the left. Look how his eyes, his body type and even his clothes are different, strange. He's even got a cane!

no problem of him being fat. I personally think it's even better. He's got a cape, a cane and a lot of thin, dangerous spikes.
Sharp is not like Knuckles. Sharp is a lier and, apparently, he is not evil.

EDIT: Well, in the history of the Open Surge,Sharp duels with Surge, But in the concept of AP, he looks old. And an old hedgehog could not fight.

There's no hedgehog in the story.

@ KZR: his claws are just right. the spikes are good. his clothes are too simple, though. I didn't like much his mustache at first, but maybe I'm wrong and the mustache proves to be an unique feature of Sharp's looks (like Hitler's mustache is an unique feature of his looks). Can we get new and more polished attempts on Sharp?
@ Race: please forget about the characters from Sonic the Hedgehog. In your concept, he's got a cane, but he's not old - and his cane doesn't look magical. His spikes should be harder, and not like Sonic. Sharp is evil. Sharp is twisted. Please remember this. Can we get new and more polished attempts on Sharp?

this sketch is significantly better than the previous one , but it still not enough.
he needs tormented, twisted eyes. Also, "Sharp" means pointy, pointed, "pontudo/afiado", dangerous, keen.
think of a tortured, twisted soul lying around on earth. Sharp must express that emotion.
ps: the 'fat' part is good

Sorry. Still not right.
Sharp is the guardian of the Dimensional Gate. Sharp has got a tormented, twisted, weird, evil personality. Sharp is a porcupine. Sharp is a lier.
Sharp is anything but a regular character. Imagine you're having a nightmare that you can't escape.
The picture below is not Sharp, but at least it resembles a twisted guardian.

Thanks for all the effort you're doing, Race. It is a nice character, but unfortunately it is not Sharp.
The evil eyes are not there, nor the twisted aura. See the picture on the left
The best approximation of Sharp to this day is this (there's something odd about him). The second best attempt is this, but it's not Sharp.

Or... we could be subtle about him.
Think about this: maybe what Race is attempting could be the 'Sharp' portrayed before he reveals that he's evil. When he finally makes his move, he could change his appearance to show his true colors, with the traits you described above. Race's interpretation could mislead the player into thinking that Sharp really is a guardian. For someone as crafty and manipulating as he supposedly is, in a place called "The Rainbow Realm" or the like, having an obviously evil, tormented, psychotic liar guarding an artifact that can enslave the multiverse would just be waaaay out of place, so wouldn't he naturally disguise himself to seem like a good guy? We could hint there's something 'off' about him, but for him to be 'obviously evil' would just be a major give-away.
However, even so, we still need concept art for his 'not so nice' appearance. I'm just saying we shouldn't completely throw this option out.

Fine. In this case we'll need two versions of him, as you've said:
- Sharp in the Rainbow Realm (Race's latest concept)
- Sharp in the Demonic Duel (a character with psychotic traits)
Race's latest concept does not look like the tormented guy, but it does look like a guardian.

I was thinking a subtle combination of both.
We could give him darker and less colorful colors even in his 'good' form. He'd seem out of place with the colorful background. Plus, he'd resemble Gimacian a bit with the cloak, giving a hint of 'maybe these guys are related'...
Plus, consider the way he will attack (well, the way I'm assuming he will, according to the wiki, where I wrote possible attacks he can use a long time ago). He uses poisonous spines to drain your collectibles away. Using poison attacks like that aren't usually attacks that completely benevolent fighters use (I know there may be a few general cases with anti-heroes and other exceptions, but poisons usually bring destruction and destruction = not good).
This is subtle enough to not be a complete 'what the heck?' moment for the player, but still not obvious enough for a complete 'duh, of course he was evil, just look how he looks' moment.
