Music Submission: Gimacian's Theme

Here's the link

I tried to make it as unrepetitive as possible.

How do you guys like it?

Re: Music Submission: Gimacian's Theme

the music is great but sounds kind of slow for a final boss, also the instruments sound too blended making it easy to lose track of which instrument is playing which melody. try to use more distinct instruments.

Not necessarily too slow... that depends on how fast the battle itself is, I suppose.

But you're right about it being too blended.

Re: Music Submission: Gimacian's Theme

sounds much better big_smile
i don't know the pace of the final fight, and/or if it's more than a one-part fight (classic multiple final bosses FTW big_smile ) but i think it's more fitting of a boss level than a boss itself.

you could equalize it better in the e.guitar and the strings, spread the stereo a little more, and pushing up the most silent parts with some compression. If you are unsure of the how-to or need help you can talk me into it tongue

Re: Music Submission: Gimacian's Theme

you know... In my estimates it will take years before we start making the final boss. In 2010 we have no idea what the final boss will be like. No idea.

Instead... This slow-paced song gave me an idea.

Movies and anime usually have songs for every major character. Whenever the story is focusing in a specific character, his/her song is played. Why don't we adopt a similar idea? With the current scripting engine, we can make rich cutscenes. So, let's make it like a movie!

In my idea, this could be Gimacian's theme song. Whenever Gimacian is saying something in a cutscene, we play this song. In the boss fight, we use the other fast-paced song you made.

Re: Music Submission: Gimacian's Theme

Oh man I like the 2nd version much better! Man, this is a good character song, it might also be good for the level select screen.

(Please don't use swear words!)

Re: Music Submission: Gimacian's Theme

I think the music is very good. It really fits the idea of Gimacian. I'll make a criticism: not to the song, but to Gimacian's concept art.

Open gimacianstheme.ogg in a new window and listen to it. While it plays, keep looking at the picture below:

What do you think?

Maybe Gimacian should not be a tiny sorcerer like this. I wonder if a taller, younger and more energic magician would fit him better.
