Requests

Hello, I'm Alexis, and I'm requesting kind of many levels from Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, 3, 3 & Knuckles, CD, 4 and so on in order to choose only SOME for my game so that I can edit.

For example, for my I would like at least these templates:
Ice Cap Zone
Splash Hill Zone
Sandopolis Zone
Emerald Hill Zone
Mystic Cave Zone
Labyrinth Zone
Tidal Tempest Zone
Hydrocity Zone
Lava Reef Zone
Studiopolis Zone (only IF possible, this one's not an obligation because I know it's hard to get Sonic Mania levels)
Hidden Palace Zone (from Sonic 3 and Knuckles)
Chemical Plant Zone (I was thinking on actually transforming it into a Poison Plant Zone or something like that, yeah, making this a little bit more purple)
Sky Chase Zone
Wing Fortress Zone
Death Egg Zone (again from Sonic 3 and Knuckles)
Casino Night Zone

And probably I will only choose from all those levels...like around 6 or 7 from all those I've mentioned. Plus, I'll also consider putting some fanmade ones and even creating some levels myself so that the game would look a little better, I guess.

Also I request some bosses with some previous explanation on how to put them in the game (yeah and that includes where should I put the script and what kind of file should I save the script) (the script does not teach me everything and the first time I tried it, it gave some error, like this --> https://postimg.cc/image/dd6e1j2l7/ )

If you want, you can give me some original levels made by yourself as well, but that's up to you smile

*Thank you*

*Alexis*

Re: Requests

I think that it is better to create your own levels with a unique brickset and level themes instead of doing a remake of old levels (SEGA loves to do it and this is not very like by players). As an option, take as idea little-known levels or not-realized levels - toxic caves or lava powerhouse (sonic spinball, I can give brickset), or levels from Simov Way prototype (NOBODY not yet realize Genocide city in original conception).

What not to do - it is 5th remake of Green Hill Zone.

Re: Requests

sorry. but I don't think I'll be making new ones so soon, so yeah, I need old levels. sorry, again.

My plan is to cross old levels with some 5 or 6 new ones, however I plan to have more old ones than new ones actually, I hope I can make some game like this:
- Bio Clever Zone (test zone, only name was modified, also there is Act 2 for this level and soon, maybe Act 3) , this one is already 75% made, only Act 3 left.
- Splash Hill Zone (I'll probably have to download from some mod I saw here...don't worry, I'll credit the one who did that), that will replace either Green Hill or Emerald Zone
- Hydrocity Zone
- Ice Cap Zone
- Tidal Tempest Zone
- Mystic Cave Zone
- Custom level (maybe)
- Lava Reef Zone
- Hidden Palace Zone
- Custom level
- Labyrinth Zone
- Chemical Plant Zone
- Custom level
- Sandopolis Zone
- Studiopolis Zone
- Casino Night Zone
- Custom level
- Sky Chase Zone
- Wing Fortress Zone
- Death Egg Zone
So as you can see, there are much more original levels than custom ones, and the idea is to make an extensive Sonic game with lots of level (just like Sonic Mania but quite different) and if I don't have enough help, I'm afraid I won't do it.
I promise I won't be telling anyone the tiles are mine (because they are not) and that I'll credit anyone who gives me these tiles. Why? Because I need them. Simple as that. Also I credit SEGA if needed.

Please...don't force me to go to another engine again as I really did enjoy this one!

Re: Requests

Hey alexis, welcome to the forum!

Everything you are asking for is on the internet. If you write for example "Hydrocity tileset" you will find a lot of images. Then it is simply matter of constructing the brickset or the objects by yourself and create the levels.

For the old levels, there are maps in SonicRetro. You can see the map and reconstruct the full level by yourself.

Well yeah I kinda found some images in Sonic Retro, however they are in either jpg or png...something like that, yeah. I mean...am I supposed to cut the images so that I can have tilesets? (a bit more deeper question I know, sorry, lol) How can I cut those images and put them to practice? If you tell me it's on the wiki again, I'll search for it. I mean, tell me anything and I'll do that, just don't expect me to practice scripting and stuff 'cause it's too complicated for me, lol.

The information about making bricksets (and everything) is inside the MODs section in the wiki:
http://opensnc.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Bricksets
There is the Rapid Brickset Editor so you don't have to mess with the files manually. I recommend you use it: http://opensnc.sourceforge.net/rbe2/

However, for doing exact replies of the classic Sonic levels, you *must* do scripting, because some levels have special objects that are not implemented in the OpenSurge engine. But take in account that precisely this is why OpenSurge is, in my opinion, the best engine of all: no engine has everything. But here, at least, you can script it. It is not so difficult, and we are here to help you in your creative process.

Re: Requests

don't worry, the levels won't be necessarily equal. After all, who says a new Splash Hill must be equal to the original? smile So...I don't think I'll have to mess with the script but we'll see. If that is the case, then I'm afraid I'll have to change engine... sad
What's more, I'm not quite motivated to learn scripting after I already tried on RPG Maker for about 10 thousand times (ok it's exageratting I know, I just need you to make sure you know it was really MANY tries).

Thanks anyway for answering, and helping me. I'll make sure I'll credit everyone I should in my fangame, and when I say everyone it's really everyone, Sega Producers, some people from this Open Surge Community if it is the case, anyone who is responsible for a little part of my fangame.
Normally I do not break my promises (yeah, sometimes it happened about 4 or 5 times in quite 32 years of my life, but not much more as that), so if I break this time, please do speak to me, so that I can delete the game from any community that I might post, the last thing I want is to have problems with you guys. I do believe there won't be any problem because I'll credit you. But still, do tell me if I commit some kind of mistake.

Thanks again.

Re: Requests

I think that it's best to make a mod with the levels that are less common in the Sonic's games. For example, Sandopolis Zone (levels with desert theme - rare level-theme), Mystic Cave (or other cave-theme level), etc. You can open the levels themes list on Sonic Retro and choose one level from every themes.

You can find bricks on site http://www.sonicgalaxy.net/sprites/gen/sonic3
