Levels is in script form. Why not allow options to be the same way?

Not active much anymore.
The only things I do now is just let inspiration come to me when it's needed.

This will make things more customizable. Defining new options for MODs making them more unique.

in my mod, I wanted to remove the option: selecting language, 4x resolution, and add the credits of the mod without removing of the engine credits.

hmmm... the options screen is not very flexible: it's not designed to support scripting. hmmm .......

there could be a configuration file that you could select which options you want ... but it's a lot of work to a feature that would be rarely used (and it would be a bit limited). I'm not discarding this option - it is possible to make it -, but in a short term time it would be difficult neutral Maybe in the future the options screen could not only control its own things (resolution, fps, etc.), but also launch a few levels, so custom scripts could be executed from there.

So you'd have some sort of .cfg/.def file defining which options you want. And if you want to script stuff, you launch a .lev, and then return to the options screen. That could work?

well, aside from the future, there's a easy solution that you can use right now:
- there are actually 2 credits screens in the game. Enter in the credits screen and then press fire2 (Ctrl). So, you can use one of them for your mod, and the other for the engine. You can alter the entry STAGESELECT_MSG in the language file to let the user know that there is another credits screen
- but then you can't modify (for now) the resolution, nor remove the select language option. But is this a serious problem?

To be more specific, I wanted to modify the options to become more suitable for my game. I wanted to add the 16-bit option, the game credits and remove languages. I want to remove the languages, because my mod is only in Portuguese (BR).

so, you need a very specific options screen. The way, then, is to script your own screen.

now, what is the 16-bit option?

in short term, we can provide some mechanism for you to jump to screens like credits/stage select. would that suffice for now?
