Topic: [bug?] fullscreen

hello,

I have a new computer (finally).
I was just playing opensurge, I had the revolution on max, and wanted to play full screen.
but it remained in a window. it was not possible to go to fullscreen.
if the revolution is medium or small  then it works, the game go to fullscreen.

I do not know if this has already been said

Re: [bug?] fullscreen

max resolution usually has weird behaviors, i've tested in various computers.

i think it may have to do with wide-screen computers. my resolution is 1366*768 and after the first time where it works fine, the game starts in a square window with no buttons, only a border. the game graphics show very deformed.

either way, it used to happen in my old crt monitor, 4:3 format at 1280*1024 so i don't know if that's the issue.

Re: [bug?] fullscreen

he does weird anyway, the picture freezes and the sound comes together.
does the game supports 64-bit?

my screen is 1600×900. maby good to know.

Re: [bug?] fullscreen

i run a 64 bit computer and OS and it's fine, except "max" option

Re: [bug?] fullscreen

i think it's related to the video card driver. The "max" resolution does some calculations in order to figure out what the window size should be, and that size may not be accepted by your driver.

maybe we should just replace the MAX option by a "4x" one. Then, the window size would be (320x4, 240x4) = (1280, 960), and that's probably compatible with most drivers. what do you think?

I have written a small program in blitzmax, with this large (1280, 960) in fulscreen.
for those who want to see:

Graphics 1280, 960,1
AppTitle = "test"

Repeat

    'text
    DrawText "Hello os theam!",50,50

    'show
    Flip
    Cls
Until KeyHit(key_escape)

Then I get an error; The image can not be drawn.
If I use 1024, 768 then it works!

in other words, The video card of this computer don't support the size (1280, 960).

it is also possible to use 1024, 768 as size?
that is the most used now.

unfortunately no. sizes must be multiple of 320x240 (preferably that size multiplied by a power of 2, so we can get smooth gfx as well)

another approach would be using 1280x1024 (that's certainly compatible with most computers) and putting a black strip on the top and on the bottom of the screen... the real game size would be 1280x960.

according to wikipedia a commonly used size. I think that's the best. os should run on many computers as possible.
on this computer is the Aspect ratio 16:9, So it is not supported. but I can put it on normal size.
perhaps a warning for those who are not able to play on full screen.
